Our mental health and wellbeing is under exceptional stress at the moment, and we believe we’ll all get through this better if we do it together. We’ve partnered with the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine to create a video that tells young people’s stories of social distancing.

If you’re between the ages of 18-27, and living in the UK please share your story of lockdown to help keep spirits up. Yours could be featured alongside stories of other young people from around the country. And as a small token of our appreciation, we’re giving away a £50 Amazon gift voucher to three randomly selected participants!

All you need to do is shoot a short video of yourself answering a few questions about your experience during social distancing:

1. How are you getting on?

What has been challenging? What do you miss most and what are you looking forward to being able to do again?

2. What are you doing to help make this time more bearable?

Are you finding new ways to connect with friends and family? Is there anything you can still do that you enjoy? Are you trying new things? Or creating new things?

3. Why are you following social distancing guidelines?

Does someone close to you work for the NHS? Do you have a vulnerable family member? Or do you just want to do it right so we can go back to normal as fast as possible? Or is it something else?

We’ll cut together the responses to create a 2-3min video that features the broad range of experiences and ideas that you share with us. Then we’ll release this film as widely as we can across social media, so the support reaches as many young people across the UK as possible. We hope some people who see it might even feel moved to share their own stories and messages of support

How to do it

Please film yourself in a well-lit, quiet room and try to keep it to 2min or less. No special equipment required: You can use your phone, laptop, or a video camera if you have one.

Feel free to also send along pictures or short videos showing us anything you may have talked about: the thing you’re doing to keep yourself occupied, a person you are social distancing in order to protect, etc.

Please adhere to all social distancing guidelines when making your video and only share content which you have permission to feature in the final film.

Please send your video to us using the submission form below.

If you have any questions, you can email us at covidresponsefilm@brickwall.uk.com and we’ll get back to you as soon as we possibly can.

A bit more about the project

Brickwall is a London-based creative agency, specialising in film and animation. We feel strongly that we’re all in this battle with Covid together, so we’ve been trying to figure out how we could help. So with LSHTM we developed the concept for a film highlighting your stories, as told by you. For the final film, we'll create a montage of the wide range of responses we receive.

We know that all of us are facing new challenges and stress as a result of the social distancing measures, and we thought that hearing what others are going through and how they are dealing with it, would help us stay motivated and keep our spirits up through this difficult time.

In short, we believe that we all have stories, and we all need to hear them. Now more than ever.
